Bloody hell!!!!! Five months between entries does not a diligent blogger make. Am thinking about what it is that I'd like to share and realised that along with any musings, research for "queerpuss-in search of the high C's" might be a bit of fun for the few who may be interested to drop by.

Here goes with one of the current qp readings. "Couretsan's" by Katie Hickman. Blurb on the back cover which I quite like.

Quite useful for building characters and exploring underlying tensions and motivations of some of inhabitants of realms that are being created for this fetsihisitic, queer, high camp pantomine that is very loosely based on "Gulliver's Travels".

Musically all sorts of stuff is being sifted through and the staging strategies and logistics are making it very easy to see long desired methods of for bringing this work to fruition. The timeline is taking a bit longer to commit to due to fiscal issues which my day work is starting to resolve.

a new day dawns

First time blogging and what a good way to celebrate a new enterprise!!! Today I was out and about with my good mate Anne C being valiant foot soldiers in the battle to change work culture. Our weapons (big stick in the back pocket I hope I am never reduced to pulling out and bludgeoning deadbeat employers over the head with) the NSW Workcover Act 2000 and Regulations 2001.

Oh and did I see a cross section of tragic as well as "the penny has dropped" buisness owners. From auto mechanics to hairdressers we experienced (nearly) it all. Saw the terror in their eyes when they thought we were WORKCOVER INSPECTORS saw the relief when we made SURE that they realised we were Work Safe in Business Counsellors. La de da I so enjoy having some hefty legislation in my back pocket and yummy phrases like "duty of care", "due diligence", "compliance"(one of my favourites ;-) as well as "fast track your OH&S requirements". I have never had so much fun extracting $$$$$'s from clients knowing that it is the start of a quite revolutionary change in the way they operate their businesses and it will assist in improving employer/employee relationships in this rather onerous area of compliance.

Oh dear! I do read like some brainwashed evangelist of Occupational Health and Safety and I couldn't give a flying FFFFFF. It really is a bit of a passion for the socialist in me as it is a system for encouraging and protecting peoples rights in the workplace as well as rewarding business operators for giving a shit about their workers. The big stick is MASSIVE PERSONAL fines for not having a policy and using it. The rewards are significant reductions in the workers compensation premiums IF they follow the process through to an accreditable standard.

Aside from all this blah, blah, blah my gorgeous lover is coming to visit tonight and we both have lots to celebrate as she has been offered a place in the uni course she has been wanting to study. We are taking each other out for a slap up munch at Resturant Balzac then home for some private love fest time *sigh*

Tomorrow is the final rehearsal of "And Now The End Is Near" which is to be staged in the "Short and Sweet" Theatre Festival on sunday. It is my directorial debut and I'm so happy about how it is going and really honoured that Miss Kitty (the author and one of the stars) asked me to direct, she knew I could do it well and it really helped me realise my strengths in this area.

Then sunday night gorgeous one is dancing at the Impy as part of SUB-STATION (I have a silly role as a dancing swine in an unrelated piece that will be fun). I'm nearly creaming my jeans at the thought of her doing the "dance of the 100 dams". Now Zoo will know what can be done with a bag full of these beyond useless prophylactics ( oooh how un p.c. but true)

Love is a powerful force and when reciprocated incredibly revelatory.
